Minecraft Weathering

What is Weathering?

So, what exactly is weathering? Well, we have an answer to that, weathering is when a block’s appearance changes throughout time depending on the conditions it is in.

With copper, it starts off as a bronze coloured block, and ends off as a green block once fully weathered. This can create a really immersive experience in your Minecraft world.

There are 4 stages of copper weathering, we have the base copper block which is fully bronze. The next stage is the lightly weathered block which isn’t as polished as the normal block, but has a duller bronze colour. The next stage is the Semi-Weathered block, this block is green with orange accents scattered around it. The final stage is an all green block, very different to the starting block.

There is no exact time for each copper block to weather, it is random. In a loaded chunk, the block will go into a different oxidation state every 50-82 days. Meaning total oxidation will take around 150 to 240 days. One Minecraft day lasts around 12 minutes, so it does take quite a while for a block to weather.
